Just a head's up... The forum seems a bit slow so I'm going to reboot the server. I'll do it at 14.45 but it won't be offline long, and we'll be back in 5 minutes.

Seems much faster to respond for me now, hope it's the same for you.

Apologies for the downtime, this was due to our server provider having a glitch... from their website:

Quote:
System Outage

Created: 11 January 2011, 13:46

We would like to apologise for today's system outage, and to explain why this has occurred.

An external third party was carrying out routine maintenance in our data centre, and testing our systems for fire prevention. Unfortunately, due to human error, our fire prevention systems were in fact triggered.

As a result of this, and acting as the system should in the event of a real fire, all of our servers were sent in to a safe mode whereby they went offline.

Safety is our biggest concern, hence the system is configured to react in this way to avoid a major incident and permanent data loss.

We deeply regret any problems this may have caused you, and assure you we are doing our utmost to return to normal service levels as quickly as we possibly can.

Seems somebody turned the sprinklers on. Still, we're back now. :D

Once again the speed seems to be slowing down, so I'm going to reboot the server. We will go offline but only for a minute or two then we'll be back and ready to go.

Thanks for you patience.

Having some problems with the backup process so I'm gunna reboot the server and see if that helps. We'll be right back in a minute or so.

Same again people, it seem to be getting sluggish so a reboot is required. We'll brb as usual.

It's a shared VPS so who knows who and what else is on there slowing us down. It's a third of the price of a dedicated server though.

Yeah probably lol. Or the host are still having a few issues... it's been fine for many months at a time then slows down twice in a week. My 1Gb backups were reported as 140kb for a few weeks there but now they're back lol. I email tech support who reassured me that they had impressive file compression software but that my backup would still contain all my data.... It'd be the world's best ever file archiver that! I laughed nearly as hard as the proper geek I rang up and spoke to. Next time I checked they were back to the expected size.

As some of you may have noticed, we were offline for a few hours from about 2am onwards. This was part of a planned upgrade that required mass reboots of our host's systems, so sorry for any inconvenience.

Anyhoo, we're back now.
