I'm on it mate, and sorry about that. I have no idea why it keeps falling down but I've passed it on to tech support at the hosting company and hopefully we'll be back asap. Until then, we're waiting on them and I'm continually restarting the damn thing.

Well it's been tweaked now so hopefully it should be fixed.

The things I do for you lot. :p

And erm yeah that was kinda down to me, but not entirely.

DNS was updating last night/today, because behind the scenes we've just upgraded to a faster server. This meant we changed our IP address, and copied the forum across, then there was a delay until the awaygoalsrule.com domain name updated and pointed to the new IP address instead of the old one. Some of you will have no doubt seen the "we've moved to..." message explaining that you needed to use the IP address to access the forum for a while during the update.

So you might have had several odd things happening, like being logged out, momentary site disappearance, or the domain name taking/not taking you/taking you to the new server's IP address until the update was finally complete.

Incidentally, if anyone gets logged out when you use your previous 'www.awaygoalsrule.com' bookmarked shortcut, try making a new one. It shouldn't really make any difference really, but I had that phenomenon and every time I clicked on my AGR link it logged me out... but once I made a new bookmarked shortcut for it, then it worked fine again.

In any case, it's all done now and I don't think we did bad, the disruption was minimal, logging out aside.

If you're using an old bookmark, try making a new one... I know it shouldn't matter but it did for me. Not sure why tbh.

Yeah sorry about that, to one and all. I had to hack a redirect in place to give the forum priority during the changes, as it's a shared IP address for several sites eg the AGR website and blog and several subdomains etc. otherwise even the new IP address would have left us offline until DNS had resolved. Once it did update, I could remove the redirect and the server started working properly with no more logging out... I hope! :D

Please let me know if there's any more problems.

Sorry lads.

I never use persistent logins on mine, so I've noticed little difference with logging in. I click login, type the first letter of my username, and Firefox fills in the rest... then I just click the login button.

I am still getting logged out if I use my browser toolbar shortcut to open a new page, which is very weird  - obviously it doesn't include the session ID that each user gets when they login to identify them but that didn't seem to matter before. But while logged in, if I right click a link on the current page and then click 'open in new tab' then it will keep you logged in over multiple tabs/pages. So pass.

I'm not sure what's up yet... I'm guessing it's some kind of cookie problem as the server settings look OK, trying to work out if it's a server issue or a browser problem. Or maybe it just needs a new cookie name setting in the ACP..? Though I don't want to change that yet until I've checked it out. In the meantime I have changed the settings regarding validating your IP addresses but I don't think that's it.... so rest assured I am still looking into it for you.

If any of you technical sorts has any ideas, answers on a postcard please.... :geek:

Considering the whole collection of sites and databases got moved to a completely new machine I don't think I did too badly. And as soon as I suss out the cookie problem (I suspect) it's be fine. :p

Yeah that'd work.
