Right, anyone have any experience with problems with Steam and Windows 7? I recently bought a new laptop, an ASUS N53S, and decided to get some good games via Steam, to run on it. So far, I cant even launch Shogun 2, FM11 crashes at the 3D match engine.

I have it all set to run as admin, so I dont think thats the problem. Any ideas?

I do, it works fine on Win7 Ultimate 64bit but I have had to repair it at least once via the Uninstall - Repair Installation thingy built into the (un)installer.

I don't know of any particular problems running Shogun 2 or FM11 on Steam - I've got the Shogun 2 demo running fine - but if you're getting specific Steam errors chances are it's a known issue and you can search for them and often there's a fix/workaround or at least things to try... just tap in the error code and the first line of text etc.

Assuming you have enough RAM (that thing comes in various configurations) then AFAIK you should be OK tech specs wise so I'd guess at a driver problem, probably graphics, sound or chipset/motherboard drivers but I'd try the Steam repair first... there's an outside chance something else may be conflicting eg firewall. Latest version of graphics driver is here - http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_drivers.html. Or ASUS may have their own custom drivers on their website, they sometimes do, and they'd be here - http://support.asus.com/download/option ... =en&type=1 - there's even an autodetect in case you're feeling lazy. And don't forget to make sure Windows has all it's updates in place because that can affect things too.
