I downloaded this and now I want to get rid of it. But I went to add remove programs and it wont let me remove.

I removed a load of other stuff, that I probably shouldn't have, all things that had a c++ written next to it, but I can't get rid it. Any ideas.

A system restore to a date prior to the installation of Studio Express?

MS' own uninstall instructions here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2771441

They had a utility to remove 2010 version on MSDN so it was obviously troublesome, but I've not seen a comparable one for 2012.

Is it not listed in the control panel's add/remove applications bit? According to MS site, it's hidden away behind the Change option, so in theory you can uninstall VS2012 as usual from the control panel | Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 | Change | Uninstall.

Or is something else, like an error message?

Also if you start getting errors with other software it's possible that they relied on the C++ re-distributable or something else that got removed. But don't worry, you can always download the relevant bit again and fix it easily enough if need be.

Try the force uninstall option at the bottom of the link Con sent.

Failing that you might want to try and reinstall and therefore affect a "repair", and then uninstall as a whole. Can you run VS2012 and does it still function?

VS2012 installs .Net 4.5 right over the top of .Net 4.0 like 3.5 did to 3.0 so you'll still have .Net 4.5 installed.
