Anyone know where I could get a license for AVG (the latest free version)?

It's installed bit my laptop crashed during installation so it never registered the license. Now I can't use it or uninstall it either it's becoming rather annoying.

According to their FAQ, the best method is to re-run the installer setup file that you downloaded and previously used (or re-download it if need be) and select either the Repair or Uninstall options.

You could try either. Repair should replace all the files to their default state, if not take it off and start again with the uninstall and reinstall.

Failing that...

There is an removal tool for such situations, that removes AVG entirely - http://www.avg.com/us-en/download-tools is the tools page and you want the top link (assuming yours is the 32bit which it probably is), which is this one for the newest 2011 version - http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/su ... 1_1184.exe

No, 12 hours is not really normal. Sounds like the many virus infections are using all the resources, or fooling your AV into thinking it is because your AV and/or OS have been messed with. Btw those pics look like the full version that you have installed but like I said you can't rely on that right now as it's probably broken, so you need to use the online scanners.

That reformat and reinstall is looking like much less of a huge task now I bet.

yhe i have the full version?does that matter?or do trials nt work? It does the same with online scan,24 hours if not more and still same, does it all very slow and it sounds like its draining the resources heavy. One last scan with online scanner and if not full re-install :(

The point is... as your PC is infected and most virus and malware turn off the AV and other stuff to avoid being removed, you cannot rely on your currently installed AV once it's this bad. You turned NOD off, your PC got swamped, now basically NOD is/could be broken until it's cleaned up. Your ONLY option is using the online scanners, or downloading a few other AV apps and appropriate updates - if the malware lets you, you might have to rename the files you download to hide them assuming you can connect to their sites - then come offline uninstall NOD and install the others in turn and try deep scans with those, if it lets you install them.

If it comes to a reinstall, make sure that you've selected the full format, it takes a while but necessary in this case or the malware could survive the restore process. If the recovery disk doesn't allow that option, by all means give it a go as the restore option might work OK. If that doesn't fix it, I'll link you to a boot CD you can get to properly fully format/wipe the HDD before you do the restore.

Stopzilla is a scam. It's just another virus.

Con and fellow geeks...

I have Driver issues with an "unsupported"Gigabyte all in one MoBo.

Have tried searching everywhere and keep getting A-Hole applications wanting to manage my driver updates but charging me for the privilege. How best would you suggest I continue?

Cheers in advance.

I hate those driver apps... I tried a few some years ago, and not one of them ever found a driver I needed.

What's the model number of the mobo? Chances are I can find drivers with that.

Or you could look here on Gigabyte's driver page:

Cheers Cons. I 'apparently' have a QMH61 which is why I say unsupported as gigabyte don't even recognise it. The AIO is a GB-AEGT if I remember correctly. Not supported on that link either!
