I dunno.... countries and courts just tend to roll over for the US, be it because of (in)direct threats, bribes, etc. They've got many ways to twist people's arms into doing what they want, they specialise in it.

And they don't even have a clear jurisdiction here  , so I'm really hoping that this case is the one that leads to changes in the law... or at least a change in attitude towards the US and their illegal tactics. The Assange case is yet another example in which the they had nothing and yet they continue to persecute him just because they have a personal agenda against him. How many more will we collectively let them get away with?

At some point somebody has to say "No!" to the US and hopefully it'll grow like a snowball from there. This could be the turning point (hopefully).

While the US has leverage in the form of foreign trade, aid, etc it's difficult for anyone to say no to them. If NZ is told that the US will block all imports from them then they'd struggle to put 1 persons rights ahead of the welfare of the nation.

The only way to stop the US' bully boy tactics is for them to change from within.

Or for China to conquer the world.

You know what Paks like. He's probably voted JSP for woman of the year or something.
