So AGRers, What are your personal favourite/top 5 films?

Post them and the reasons why, if you can be bothered. Don't have to be in order, nor should it be 5, go 3, 5, 10 if you want. :D

Mine would be:

Pulp Fiction
: Can't fault much, if anything about this film personally, absolutly love it and is definitley my top film.

The Godfather: A classic. 'nuff said.

Jaws: Whilst many slate it, i love this film. I do have an interest in Sharks anyway, but this is one of the earliest films i can remember watching and it scared the hell out of me. It's a shame about the sequels though, which were sh*te. Bar maybe the 2nd one, which was passable imo.

Toy Story(s)
: The first two were my favourite childhood films, and i couldn't wait for the 3rd last year, still watch them nowadays.

The final slot would be a toss up between Bad Boys 2 (which is better than the first imo) and Godzilla: Destroy all monsters. I know they were 'tacky' and subbed quite badly but i used to love watching the original's when i was a kid, and this one was my favourite.

Your turn. :)

I find it impossible to pick a solid top 5 favourites, so i'll give you 5 of my favourites

1. Goodfellas - No comment required
2. Full metal Jacket - Best (anti) war movie ever made imo
3. Fist of Fury - Bruce at his best for me
4. Taxi Driver - Travis Bickle rocks my world, makes me wanna go on a killing spree :|
5. The Empire Strikes Back - Best Star wars movie by a mile

Right here goes...in no certain order

Anchorman, Pulp Fiction, Blues Brothers, The Hangover & Platoon.

Goodfellas is a cracker, and wouldn't be far off my top five. Have no idea how I haven't seen Taxi Driver yet, I need to make a point of watching it.

Never seen Star Wars?

In theory watching them in order of Episode would make sense, it was a little disjointed having seen the original trilogy and then going back to the prequels.

I suppose I shouldn't really criticise you not seeing Star Wars... I've never seen any of the Godfather films

Pretty much, yeah. The first 3 episodes deal with the origin of Darth Vader, who is a major character in the latter 3 episodes focus on Luke Skywalker.

So I've been told, just never been inclined to watch them.

Gunna have to get round to watching them, cheers DS. Might see what they're going for online.

Just a tip if you do decide to watch The Godfathers; make sure your sitting comfortably, they're quite long films. The second is over 3 hours iirc. :phew:

That's one of the problems... I'm very fidgety... I hardly ever go to the cinema cos I hate sitting still for long periods of time!! I'd end up watching half the film, then doing something else for a while, then coming back to it.

I enjoy watching films, but I'm useless at remembering them and remembering what they're called.

My dad made me watch the star wars films with him in the cinema when they re-released em, watched the LoTR's trilogy too. Much prefer the latter. All 3 LoTR's are better than having to sit through Pearl Harbour in the cinema.

I can try and pick a top 5 films but I know i'll be missing out some that I think are excellent and i've just forgotten there names or something! Films i'd put up there as some of my favourites and recommend to everyone are:

Road To Perdition
Se7en
Carlitos Way
Catch Me If You Can
Inception. It may be new out, but the minute I finished watching it I wanted to watch it again.

And an honourable mention has to go to two films many think are a pile of crap but I love, Anger Management and Van Wilde: Party Liason.

I liked Van Wilder, it's like a modern day Animal House (but not as good obviously).

I liked those films as well, they really grip you, when i started watching the first i had to watch them all. The casting is good and some of the effects are immense imo, some of the battle scenes for example are pretty great.

I'd say they are pretty crap films tbf, but i enjoyed both. Depends on your sense of humour i suppose. That bit in Van Wilder involving the dog and the pastry filling made was disgusting but hilarious.

Jack Nicholson is brilliant in Anger Management.
