FM talk/stuff goes in here. If you wanna share tips for players may I suggest another thread, so it's easily viewed by members, instead of lost in the mucho chat on how you're the next Sir Alex (or indeed, next Curbishley). :)

Whats everyone doing then? I've only done 2 files in the new one, one united file and me and my flat mate dont a united barca file.

I won the league 7 seasons running with united but never really clicked with this game as you did the others, hoping for an improvement on 'addictiveness' when the new one comes out

'06 was the last version that had me coming back. Rewrite it in assembly language ffs. I love Sega, but they're giving Si too much leeway imo.

I do agree that something about FM08 just wasn't as compelling as the previous ones, tbh my favourite is still FM05, dunno why, but I loved that game, won the league for 8 years running with United, with various cups and stuff thrown in. Was awesome. :newbie:

i didn't enjoy FM08 untill i got hte 8.0.2 patch, i have 4 games going but only the yeovil one have i really gotten into. So far i'm in 2011 right now and am in 7th place in the prem atm, hopefully will get a UEFA cup spot for next season. Also last season i could finally afford a stadium expansion but planning permision got turned down, although this season they've been extending it, it's moving up from 8,000 capasity(not an all seater though :() to 15000 and i'm hoping they turn it into an all seater but i'm not sure.

Went through a period of thinking 08 wasn't immersive enough - liking it now (in 203x)

More importantly, what peoples opinions on the new 3d display -

hmm didnt notice at first - liking the look of the bar along the bottom that i assume shows who had the ball when (and i assume the ball icon represents a goal)

FM08 took me a while to get into, but as someone already said it wasn't until the 8.0.2 patch came out that everything was (nearly) how it should have been in the first place. For some reason seemed like they rushed the final product out, had a couple of bugs that irritated a lot of people. For example - the amount of dissallowed goals each game was bordering on the insane, as you can imagine this was incredibly frustrating. I don't think the 'closing down' option worked either, though how people knew that I have no idea.

Got the new one (along with new Pro which is released on the same day) on pre-order already. That's gonna be quite a couple of weeks!

Pro and FM have been released on the same day for the last 3 additions now, always makes for a cracking weekend

Don't play it much these days, but I started a game with Juve a couple of weeks ago.

Didn't buy any players or loan anyone at all in the first season, finished first in league and lost in the cup final.

2nd season brought in a few new players, but it's so much harder now. After about 10 games I'm 10 points off top, got a CL group of death too with Chelsea, Fenerbache and PSG. 7 points from first 4 games if I remember right.

I've never really gone more than about 3 seasons in with 08, nowhere near as adictive as 07, which in turn has never reached the heights of the final champ man before the split.

I never really clicked with 08 either, shame really, seeing as I shelled out £40 for it
Not sure whether to get the new one yet. My mate was part of the testing for FM Live, and he said it was ace.

Just get it downloaded and then you won't have to worry about £40 every year. :dunno:
