How the hell does McGeady keep getting picked? He's never done the buisness for Ireland as long as I've seen him. He was shite for Celtic, no wonder they got the dosh when he went to Russia and didn't try too hard to stop him. :|

Aye..must be the most strangely overhyped player ever..I've never seen him anything from him bar the odd spin against awful Scottish defences.

I think Fabregas' goal was the worst - 6 defenders and one attacker strolls through and buries it

Look on the bright side, they had 27 shots and only scored 4 of them. That's as good as 3 points.

Not much you can do when Spain play like that, but giving away an early goal to them is suicide. Some of the defending from Ireland was shocking.

Nice of the ref to break up an Ireland move and give Spain the chance to counter

If nothing else, just being there was an immense achievement, and playing in a game like that is a learning experience for the younger players. And a knackering one for the older players.

Players seem to lack concentration they've conceeded goals at the start of the 1st and 2nd half in both games that is a problem when your tactic is to keep things tight as plan a is out the window and without making subs there is no plan b.

It was a great achievement to get there, that has to be said. But for me, Trapp has a lot to answer. I'm just not sure Irish journalists will ask the questions.

Trapp wants to blame the players, saying they played with fear. He may have a point but imo, he has set us up poorly.

The faith shown in certain players is bizarre. Green, McShane, Cox shouldn't be near the squad. Wilson, McCarthy, Gibson, McClean, Coleman, have been over looked for too long. Walters should have more caps by now.

I don't expect us to be world beaters. But we should be able to give a better account of ourselves than that. When we've qualified for these tournaments, we've always competed and I think we can do better than what I've seen over the 2 games.

He is going to take us through the WC qualifiers. I hope he takes a look at the squad and the way we're set up and makes the changes.
