I think the whole of the BCC set up needs changing. Still it could be worse, could be in ITV's position.

I still think they should get James Richardson.

I think it's a bit too old boys club. Shearer is terrible.

Richardson with Seedorf and some other would make a decent MoTD team. I'm always impressed with Seedorf.

Seems we agree about the state of the BBC and how they could improve things.

I can't stand Lineker either, he's a rubbish 'presenter' if he's even that, he's just some smug git who talks crap (so long as the autocue is working  ) they're just a little far too smug. Somehow that old boys club manage to pass for analysis and commentary at the Beeb these days. And Lineker should stop eating before the show, maybe it'd stop the constant burping.

Richardson with Seedorf would be a big improvement.

As for Mr Alan Boring Shearer, he's only got about 3 things to say and just repeats them over and over. There's no point to him, he just fits in the old boys club and they need to get rid of him... not that they probably will. The inanity drives me nuts. :wall:

I f**king hate Lineker, think he's an awful presenter. Made me laugh a few months ago on Motd when the vidiprinter broke and he was like a rabbit in the headlights, is he really too braindead to think of an interesting question to ask one of the 'pundits', that's his job done, up to them whether they say anything interesting or not.

I saw him have an autocue fail a while ago, and it was like Watership Down and he was Bright Eyes. Absolutely lost, he's never been a TV presenter, he just reads and burps. I had to PMSL at how bad he actually is at it, even after all this time.

Don't want to be listening to Souness sniffle his way through a match, but I agree with the rest.

I really like Souness on Sky's CL coverage, him and Keane are both dirty b*stards who you can tell want to get out on the pitch and kill people. I love that.

Don't even get me started on Shearer :wall:

Sky have the best pundits Souness doesn't care if he offends anyone and Neville has taken the analysis side of things to a new level.

BBC just go for popular names of the people they currently have I like Dixon and I don't mind Keown they clearly know what they're talking about. Savage is just funny because again he gives an opinion and Seedorf is good at these tournaments.

Lineker is a presenter thats his job to read from the auto cue it's what it's there for and in a live broadcast very few will think on there feet. He's got a right to be smug as well he was a hero for England never let them down arguably the best striker ever to pull on an England shirt big tournaments Lineker was there and delivered for us.

I think Keown is rubbish as well.

Maybe I want too much from a presenter, I'm looking for someone who actually provokes discussion rather than reading an autocue.

I just don't see how it can be that difficult to have a 15 minute discussion about a game you've just watched without having to refer to an auto cue.

Keown is rubbish, I concur.

Dixon is about the only one worth keeping. Get Peacock back. Hansen used to be good, but whover said he looks bored got the anil on ehad.

Peacock wasn't too bad, that's not a bad shout. Keown is mediocre, he'd be an improvement on Shearer and Lawro though.

Get Gazza, he'd be great :fonz:

Because your job as a presenter is to stick to the script and direct the pundits towards highlight clips that have been put together for them to talk about.

Do you not think it's strange when one of them mentions a player then suddenly a 30 second montage of clips of said player appears for them to talk about.

Sky have an advantage with the Monday Night Football they've had 24/48 hours to do some proper analysis on the game.

No I don't think it's strange. I can understand that. But I mean if the autocue does go down I don't think it should be difficult to analyse the match with 15 minutes improvisation.

I think he's talentless if he can't chat about a game he's watched for five minutes until they get the autocue sorted out for him. In fact, I'm surprised they'd even let anyone on live TV if they couldn't improvise for a bit if things went wrong during the show, which surely must go on? Unless Lineker is in charge who hasn't a clue what to do.

Being a good footballer doesn't automatically make you a good presenter... and nor do I think he's earned the right to be smug on TV - that will just make him less friends, and it couldn't make the BBC's coverage any more boring imo. He adds absolutely nothing.

Here here. He a terrible presenter and I don't want to even think what kind of wages he's on, for doing absolutely nothing.

And WTF is doing presenting golf on TV.

Although I think they have seen sense there, I didn't see him at the Masters this year.

After coming back to the studio after a gritty, urban-tinged England promo at half-time during the Italy-Croatia match, BBC MotD anchor Gary Lineker attempted a little bit of street parlance – calling it ‘sick’ like the yoofs do these days, only to immediately regret it…

RJ does not expect great insight from Robbie Savage. But we do kind of expect him to be able to count.

Here's Savage on BBC Radio 5 live on Monday night: "Germany have been the outstanding team. Nobody's set the world on fire. Spain have tinkered with formations. Spain are beatable, based upon their performance in the group stages. They've won one game in three."

Does he know that 1-0 still counts as a win?

Anybody still wondering why the BBC pays the big bucks for the big names should only look at the BBC Sport website for the insights of Everton boss David Moyes. We won't give away the whole tasty shebang, but here's a taster in the form of a headline and a picture caption...

Headline: 'Euro 2012: Portugal's Ronaldo impresses David Moyes'
Caption: 'Lionel Messi has impressed David Moyes'

No wonder the man has a stellar reputation for talent-spotting.

Mark Lawrenson makes it rather easy for us sometimes. Here are a couple of gems from his predictions for the quarter-finals, specifically England v Italy.

'They still have some really good players but they have no-one to really frighten England, apart from Mario Balotelli.'

Indeed, the man they dropped from the last game is much more frightening than Antonio di Natale (23 goals from 35 last season), Antonio Cassano (Serie A winner, La Liga winner, general unpredictable maverick), Andrea Pirlo (do we need to continue?) and half the Juventus team that won the league this season.

Also: 'I think this will be a tight game which will go to penalties and I think England will win it on penalties because they have got such a good goalkeeper in Hart.'

Yeah, that Gigi Buffon is bloody rubbish, eh?

I can't work out if Mark Lawrenson is actually just doing a parody of himself in South Africa for banter at this tournament.

If you're just going to b*tch and moan about everything then don't bother going someone at the BBC seriously needs to have a word about this as it's getting ridiculous. You're being paid to watch some of the best footballers in the world play in a competitive tournament in towns that are buzzing full of football fans and all you can do is moan about it.

I'm Team Mick McCarthy I just want him to give up management and be a full time co-commentator

Especially considering how good the tournament has been. Ten times better than South Africa was.

He's just a miserable pr*ck
